Happy Women's History Month from LRP's Development Team!
Your Development Team here at LRP! We just wanted to make sure you were in the know about some exciting announcements we have coming in March!
First, here are some community events we are supporting and hope you can make it out to.
This Saturday, March 11th, there’s the City v. City SEATAC Awards Kiki Ball at Tacoma Urban Performing Arts Center (T.U.P.A.C.) with doors opening at 4:30. Kiki scenes from LA and Portland are gonna battle it out in a team match! The city with the most points will win a grand prize of $1,500.
Also on Saturday, March 11th, is the 2023 Miss Island Goddess Pageant, presented by UTOPIA Washington at the Federal Way Performing Arts Center. Our reigning Queen and dearest friend, Beyonce Black St. James will be stepping down as a new queen is crowned. We at LRP are so proud of Beyonce and blessed to see her thrive as queen from 2019-2023. She’s a powerhouse performer based in Eastern Washington. We hope you already bought your tickets because this amazing event is already sold out!
Secondly, we are very excited to announce LRP’s second annual PRIDE event: The Black Trans Comedy Showcase. Mark your calendars for June 10th, 7pm, at SIFF Cinema Egyptian in Seattle, Washington! This year, we have the honor of having the one and only TS Madison hosting our show and fundraiser!!! In the past twelve months, we have accomplished so much as an organization and cannot wait to share how our staff’s work is supporting the community-at-large, what our goals are for the future, and how we plan to achieve them. Tickets will be available soon with more on the comedic lineup. If you know you cannot attend but still wish to support through a donation, please visit bit.ly/givetolrp. Otherwise we hope to see you in June!
And lastly, if you’re in Olympia or Thurston County, make sure you go to Burial Grounds Coffee Collective and grab a cup of coffee in honor of Women’s History Month. BGCC is donating a portion of proceeds made this month to LRP! We are super appreciative to them for supporting us, so make sure you support them!
Thank you so much for keeping LRP in your hearts. We honor all women and femmes, past and present, Mothers and Mothers before us, and generations of femmes to come.
Happy Women’s History Month, everyone!
Your Development Team,
Randy Ford (she/her/Goddess)
