POSITION DESCRIPTION: Campaign Manager
Hybrid (in-person time required)

Lavender Rights Project (LRP) is a Black trans-led organization with a grassroots legal department, established in 2016. We are a proud Black trans feminist organization that works in movement building, policy change work, and direct support for all Black and Indigenous people. Our End Cash Bail Initiative focuses on eliminating the inequitable cash bail system and promoting fair, effective public safety measures. We are committed to educating and engaging Black communities and other impacted groups across Washington and the country.
The Campaign Manager will lead the End Cash Bail Initiative, focusing on grassroots organizing, community and stakeholder engagement, and public awareness campaigns. This role requires a passionate and strategic leader who can effectively mobilize communities, build strong coalitions, and advocate for public policy change. The right candidate will be acutely aware of current and historical issues and viewpoints to center the needs of Black, disabled, and QTPOC individuals. This position reports to the Lead Attorney, Director of Decrim Department.
Responsibilities
Grassroots Organizing:
Develop and implement strategies to mobilize community members and volunteers in support of the End Cash Bail Initiative.
Organize and facilitate community meetings, workshops, and events to educate and engage the public.
Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, activists, and leaders.
Community and Stakeholder Engagement:
Support leadership of LRP advocacy team in the development of campaign strategies, goals and outcomes.
Lead efforts to engage with diverse community stakeholders, including Black communities, to understand their needs and perspectives.
Foster partnerships with local, state, and national organizations to strengthen the campaign's impact.
Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure aligned messaging and collaborative efforts.
Public Awareness Campaigns:
Design and execute comprehensive public awareness campaigns to inform and educate the public about the adverse impacts of cash bail and the need for reform.
Utilize various media channels, including social media, press releases, and public events, to amplify the campaign's message.
Develop educational materials and resources tailored to Black communities and other affected groups.
Advocacy and Public Policy:
Advocate for policy changes at the local and state levels to end cash bail and promote equitable justice reforms.
Monitor legislative developments and coordinate advocacy efforts with policymakers and influencers.
Prepare and present testimony, position papers, and advocacy materials.
Leadership and Management:
Under the direction of the Lead Attorney, the Campaign Manager will manage a team of organizers, volunteers, and provide guidance and support to achieve campaign goals.
Track and report on campaign progress, outcomes, and impact to stakeholders and funders.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in leading public policy centered campaigns or initiatives focused on criminal justice reform.
Knowledge of the legislative process and experience in advocacy at the local and state levels.
Background in public relations, communications, or related fields.
Bilingual or multilingual abilities.
Awareness of current and historical issues and viewpoints central to the needs and concerns of QT2BIPOC folks and disabled individuals.
Familiarity with leadership development programs
Demonstrated experience working in a by and for Black trans organizing space.
Experience with criminal law or justice impacted legal cases
Required Qualifications: Education or work/lived experience. Can work occasional evenings and weekends.
Pay Rate & Fringe Benefits:
Annual salary/Compensation:
The salary range for this position is Grade 28: $78,687-$121,964
The hiring range for this position is: $78,687-$81,000

All staff currently are working remotely, and we prefer the candidate be able to work in the office as needed, be available for events, and appear in-person on weekends and occasional holidays, as required.
