A February Update from our Housing Director, Ebo Barton
The Lavender Rights Project has been granted the opportunity via the American Rescue Plan Act to distribute a limited number of Emergency Housing Vouchers. EHVs are prioritized for people currently experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness that are:
• Fleeing domestic violence or trafficking
• Families
• Recently incarcerated within last 90 days (referrals coming from criminal justice/re-entry service providers)
• Households facing eviction post-eviction moratorium
Lavender Rights Project intends to serve and prioritize Black gender diverse individuals in King County.
What is the process like?
This application is pretty lengthy, but I will work with you to complete and thoroughly explain what each form means. ID such as state issued identification or driver’s license and social security card are helpful, but not required, if you currently do not have identification. I will submit your application to the King County Housing Authority and we will wait for their response.
Then what happens?
If approved, King County Housing Authority will determine the unit size based on your household size. We find a unit that meets those requirements and landlords/properties that accept vouchers for a 12 month lease.
