Dear Ally and Co-Conspirator,
The threads of Black liberation and Black trans liberation are deeply intertwined, forming an intricate tapestry of resilience and resistance. At Lavender Rights Project (LRP), we understand that the struggle for justice for one is the struggle for justice for all and we stand proudly as the leaders in Black Liberation by understanding that Black Trans people sit at a unique intersection of issues that ALL Black people experience.
The issues faced by ALL Black people are rooted in systemic racism, sexism ,misogyny and transphobia; which impact the entire Black community. Simply put: Black Issues Are Black Trans Issues. By addressing the unique intersections of issues faced by Black trans people, we are working towards a more equitable future for all. Our issues, our struggles, our triumphs and our love are interconnected and they rely on each other to thrive.
When we understand the experiences of the most marginalized, we uplift the entire community and that includes making sure that we are ALL invested in our shared liberation and collective care.
Lavender Rights Project: A Beacon of Hope
Lavender Rights Project (LRP) is dedicated to fostering a just and equitable world where Black gender-diverse individuals can thrive. Our work intersects compassion with action, creating a healthy, healing, and honored community through:
Permanent Supportive Housing: Providing stable housing is a fundamental human right. By providing and advocating for safe and affordable housing, we are empowering individuals to thrive and reach their full potential.
Advocacy and Policy Change: We are actively working to change laws and policies that discriminate against and harm Black gender-diverse individuals. By advocating for just and equitable policies that uplift, protect, support and serve ALL Black people, we are creating a more inclusive and compassionate society.
Community Education:Education is power.By providing education and training, we are empowering individuals to advocate for themselves and their communities.
Movement Leadership at LRP: We inspire, mobilize, and guide individuals and groups towards a shared goal of social change. We involve a combination of skills, such as strategic thinking, effective communication, and relationship building to move leaders into their passions that create world change.
We build Black Power Through Collective Community and Unity; and we do it through our programs
LRP is committed to building Black power by fostering a strong and supportive community. Our programs are designed to empower All Black people and create a space where they can thrive. By coming together, we amplify our voices and our collective power.
Guaranteed Basic Income: A Pathway to Liberation
We believe that a guaranteed basic income is essential to addressing systemic inequalities and poverty. By providing a steady income, we can help all Black people achieve economic stability, access healthcare, and pursue their dreams. A guaranteed basic income is a powerful tool for dismantling systemic oppression and creating a more equitable society.
Movement Building to Protect Black Lives
In the face of increasing violence and discrimination against Black trans women and femmes, LRP is at the forefront of a movement to protect and uplift these marginalized individuals. We are committed to:
Ending Violence: We are working to end the violence and discrimination that Black people face every day and advocating for the end of violence on Black Trans people. We are working to keep ALL Black people safe. By advocating for policy changes and creating safe spaces, we are working to ensure that Black people can live their lives free from fear and harm.
Amplifying Voices: We are committed to amplifying the voices of Black trans people and sharing their stories. By giving Black trans people a platform to share their experiences, we are challenging stereotypes and creating a more inclusive society.
Intersectional Approach: We recognize that the struggles of Black trans people are interconnected with social justice issues experienced by All Black people. By taking an intersectional approach, we are working to address the root causes of oppression and create a more equitable future for all.
Creating Safe Spaces: Safe spaces are essential for the well-being of our Black family. By creating safe spaces where our Black families can connect, heal, and celebrate, we are building a stronger and more resilient community that sees each other as the foundation of care.
Honoring Our Transcestors and our Ancestors is A Legacy of Resistance
Our Transcestors and our Ancestors fought tirelessly for freedom and justice. Their legacy inspires us to continue the fight for liberation. By honoring their sacrifices and building on their work, we can create a more just and equitable world. We stand on the shoulders of giants, and their legacy fuels our fight for liberation and Strengthen Our Roots by building Black Power
